Our attempts to avoid pain create more pain.

Being hurt, hurts, but believe it or not, you’re actually designed to process it. You were created to go through grief and experience uncomfortable feelings so that you can heal and rise above your pain. For several reasons, we struggle to address it. At a young age, maybe you were told to “get over it,” or you were gaslighted in other ways. At some point you probably though it was easier to avoid pain, so you tried to self medicate with bad habits and isolation.
